You can pay at the restaurant upon arrival. Dashain is Nepal’s biggest festival, a sacred time that brings together families and communities for feasts, elders' blessings. It marks the autumn harvest and celebrates the triumph of good over evil. We are thrilled to host Nevada City’s first Dashain Dinner! In this extensive festival feast, we start with offering our guests a fusion of the Sagun ceremony platter, and Kathmandu's other feast dishes. The Sagun platter is rooted in Tantric philosophy, featuring five symbolic elements (Panchamakara) to bring bodily harmony, strength, and good fortune: Matsya (Fish): Water element; bringing mental willpower, concentration, and deep cosmic harmony. Maithuna (Egg): Life, ether, and the sky; symbolizing creation and spiritual union. Mudra (Lentil Flat bread/Woh): Parched grain and the earth; grounding the body with sustenance. Mamsa (Meat / Choila): Physical power, strength, and structural vitality. Madya (Rice Whiskey or Yogurt): Fire element, sparking divine energy and illumination. COURSE 1: Khen Sagan ra Jhaney ko Dahi Gluten-Free Shallow-fried deviled organic eggs with tempered house-made organic yogurt. Vegan alternative: Deviled organic potatoes with tempered organic coconut yogurt. A traditional Kathmandu Valley Sagun blessing of full boiled eggs (Khen) and plain yogurt (Dahi), offered for good fortune and auspicious beginnings.
